Rosamunde Pilcher: Amy’s dream child

From childhood, sports photographer Amy Boyd had a fatherly friend in fireman Brad Woods. She never met her father Jay because he died before she was born. She knows little about him either. In fact, all she knows is that he fathered her in Cornwall almost 39 years ago. Amy herself has wanted a child in vain for several years. When her boyfriend Derek doesn’t want to keep trying, she decides to get pregnant in a fertility clinic. Alone. Against the conviction of her mother Libba, who had to raise her alone. But even clinic director Dr. Kieran Nash is sceptical about Amy’s efforts because he fears a high-risk pregnancy at her age. He therefore advises Amy to at least rule out possible hereditary diseases. During her research, Amy discovers that her deceased father is not her father and that her mother has kept a lot of things from her about the past. And continues to do so. Amy therefore tries to find out more about her father with Kieran’s help. Little by little they fall in love, and he would actually be the ideal father for Amy’s desired child. However, Kieran suddenly learns that he has an almost grown-up son with another woman: Lenn.
