One from the Heart: Family Secrets

For Billy Kuckuck, the day begins less than pleasantly. The divorce from her husband Gunnar is finalised. While Gunnar is also struggling with the emotional aftermath, Billy has a new case to distract her. Farmer Röschke instructs Billy to seize a personal loan that Tanja Pohlmann is unable to repay for her apple farm. Her husband, Anton, was recently killed in a car accident. Before his accident, he had taken out the loan from his neighbour Röschke without telling his family. The already unhappy situation escalates further: Röschke demands his money back, Tanja is already at the end of her tether and to help her out, her son Niklas (17) has shouldered responsibility for the family and the indebted farm. At the same time, he neglects his own A-levels, which poses additional challenges for him. Even his little sister Sophie (9) is increasingly helping out in the farm shop instead of going to school. Billy is not unaffected by the situation and has no choice but to look for every possible way to help the Pohlmann family.

Meanwhile, Billy’s private life is also turbulent: Billy’s previous neighbour, Holger, blocks the parking space in front of Billy’s new flat with his caravan, which is why her new bed cannot be unloaded there. The police called turn out to be Gunnar, who, together with Holger, naturally helps Billy to assemble the new bed. When Billy’s new boyfriend – and divorce lawyer – Elias spontaneously drops by the flat and sees Gunnar and Holger putting the bed together, he feels unsettled. During a walk together, Elias expresses his desire to get to know both Billy’s mother and her daughter. He doesn’t just want to be by her side temporarily.

But is Billy ready for this? And will she be able to help the Pohlmann family?
